Pizza at the Bar: A Neighbourhood Night at Opal Wines

Last Friday, Opal Wines opened its doors a little wider for a neighbourhood pizza night — an easy, informal evening built around good wine, hot slices, and familiar faces.

For one night only, the menu shifted. Bottles stayed open. Tables filled quickly. Pizzas arrived straight from the oven, cut generously and passed from hand to hand. It was the kind of evening that doesn’t ask much of you — just to turn up, find a seat, and stay a little longer than planned.

The wine list leaned playful and food-friendly. Light reds served with a chill. Bright whites with enough acidity to keep pace. A few skin-contact bottles for the curious. Our house wines from Opal Wines poured steadily by the bar, sitting comfortably alongside favourites from small producers closer to home.

What made the night special wasn’t the format, but the feeling. Neighbours meeting neighbours. Regulars bringing friends. Conversations crossing tables. The bar settling into a hum that felt warm, generous, and distinctly local.
