An Evening at the Long Table: Opal Wines Supper Club

An Evening at the Long Table: Opal Wines Supper Club

Last week, Opal Wines hosted our first supper club of the season — an evening built around shared plates, changing light, and a room full of good conversation.

As the bar shifted into night, a single long table replaced our usual layout. Bottles were opened slowly. Food arrived in waves rather than courses. The idea was simple: to create a meal that moved at its own pace, shaped as much by the people around the table as by what was being poured.

The menu followed the rhythm we return to often at Opal — seasonal, unfussy, and designed for sharing. Warm bread and olive oil to begin, vegetables at their peak, slow-roasted mains, and a soft finish of olive oil cake and citrus. Each dish was paired with a rotating selection of low-intervention wines from small producers, alongside pours from our own Opal Wines label.

What we love most about these evenings is how they unfold. Strangers become neighbours. Glasses are refilled. Conversations stretch and overlap. The room settles into something unplanned but generous.

Our supper clubs will continue throughout the year, each one shaped by the season, the wines available, and the light outside the windows that night. Seats are always limited, and no two evenings will be the same.

Details of our next supper club will be shared soon.
Until then, the table is always open at the bar.

As the day changes, so do we.
